Howdy,

Beryl took me out for 2 full weeks which was new to me.  I learned that I don't do well in the heat and stillness of no power and either have to wait it out in another city, or figure out a way to "get by" until things can return to normal.  I was able to stay in my house for a few days longer than I thought because I have a friend with a Rivian who parked that in my driveway and let me run extension cords to my fridge/freezer, modem/router, several box fans, and a TV (not to mention charging all my phones/ipads).  That Rivian was amazing!! 3 days of running those things and it only went down about 20%.  From this lesson, I learned that all I need to hang tight is: Fridge/Freezer, Internet, 1 TV & most importantly, some form of A/C.  I have several friends with whole home generators and only 1 of them was able to power their A/C during the outage (natural gas pressure was low or something).

I'm on a slender budget and can't afford any sort of whole home or large set up.  I would really like to get an easy to store, easy to use battery type backup that could run:

1) A Window Unit A/C (one I would store and bring out for emergencies)

2) Whirlpool Fridge/Freezer combo

3) Internet Modem/Router (xFinity/Comcast)

4) 50" HDTV

5) Power Strip with a few lamps attached & some iPhone chargers.

Ideally I would get 3-5 days out of it before having to take it somewhere to get recharged.

I'm a handy person but I need to spend a lot more time learning about electricity - amps, volts, wattage, etc. before I know what I'm doing in this regard.  I have a downstairs bedroom/bathroom that I can separate from the rest of the house and that's all I need to keep cool.  It has a covered porch with 2 windows and a door which would allow me to easily stick a window unit (thinking the Midea U-Shape 8000).

Would love thoughts on the best way to go here. Gas? Electric? Size? etc.

Many thanks!

@billporter sorry for the delay.  The small generator you listed above from Amazon has a rated output of 2,200 Watts which should be enough for everything you listed except the window AC which could pull 1,000 - 1,500 Watts alone.  Do you know the size of the window AC you are wanting to use?
